Call for Papers - DIAMESIC 8
8th Intersteno Conference on parliamentary and other professional reporting, captioning, and accessibility modes

Córdoba, Argentina, Friday 19th September 2025, 14.30-18.00 h

The world has continuously evolved through significant technical, scientific, and technological advancements in the 20th and 21st centuries. At the dawn of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, disciplines are increasingly merging due to these transformations across various professional fields. This ongoing hybridization has led to the formation of a broader discipline – Diamesic Translation – which encompasses parliamentary and court reporting, live TV captioning, adaptation into plain and easy language, and similar professional transcription activities.

At the core of this transformation is Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), which is reshaping Diamesic Translation. Past the Covid-19 pandemic, GenAI presents today opportunities for professionals, enhances automation, and raises critical discussions about accuracy, ethics, and professional adaptability. As AI-generated outputs increasingly influence Diamesic Translation, it is crucial to examine its potential, limitations, and implications for transparency and accessibility.

To track and discuss this evolution, the IPRS and the Intersteno Scientific Committee invite scholars and professionals to contribute to DIAMESIC 8, which will be held in Córdoba, Argentina on 19th September 2025.

This year’s conference will focus on the impact of GenAI on Diamesic Translation through the following themes:

  • The role of GenAI in Diamesic Translation: theoretical and practical perspectives
  • Diamesic Translation in the age of AI-driven automation: new modes and workflows
  • AI-enhanced Diamesic Translation: benefits, challenges, and innovations
  • Ethical considerations and reliability of AI-generated Diamesic Translation
  • The evolving role of human professionals in an AI-augmented landscape
  • Training and education for AI-assisted Diamesic Translation
  • User experience and expectations in AI-assisted Diamesic Translation services
  • Other relevant topics in AI and Diamesic Translation

We welcome abstracts of approximately 1000 characters to be submitted via email to c.eugeni@leeds.ac.uk by 25 April 2025, mentioning "DIAMESIC 8" in the subject line.

Join us in exploring the intersection of Generative AI and Diamesic Translation as we shape the future of accessibility and professional transcription.
